Hartford’s many neighborhoods offer newcomers diverse and historic living options. Many of the city’s businesses, museums, and shops are located in Downtown. Trinity College is located in the Frog Hollow neighborhood. For some of the city’s more historic home with a higher price point, residents can look to Keney Park, located in the northeast of Hartford. When it comes to finding a Hartford apartment, there will be no shortage of neighborhoods to explore.
Hartford is home to several universities with ample opportunity for students and staff alike. Trinity College, founded in 1832, is the state’s second oldest college (the first being its venerable older brother, Yale) and is the home for over 2,000 students. Its Gothic Chapel, built in 1932, is the campus’ staple. We recommend taking a tour of the campus and checking out the Downes Memorial clock tower. Other notable colleges include the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut’s School of Business and School of Law.
Bushnell Park, not unlike New York City’s Central Park, was designed to provide an open space within an urban environment. The park was conceived by Reverend Horace Bushnell in the mid-1850s during the city’s economic boom. With six years in halted production after originally being approved by the city, Bushnell turned to Swiss landscape architect Jacob Weidenmann to bring the park to life. The rest is history. Today, the park covers 50 acres and is visited by over 1 million guests annually. If you’re looking for a smaller outdoor excursion, Hartford’s Riverfront Recapture and Park connects downtown to the Connecticut river with hike and bike trails in addition to playing fields.
