Universal City is located about 20 miles Northeast of San Antonio and about 66 miles Southwest of Austin, although most people would not really consider commuting to Austin from Universal City. When people think Universal City, they mainly think of Randolph Air Force base, which is located there, and is the main employer for this area. Many servicemen and women, as well as civilian employees, find Universal City a convenient residential location. The population is about 15,000 and the median income for a family is about $59,000. The racial makeup is about 80% white, 6% African American, 3% Asian, and a mix of others.

Things to do in Universal City

Although there are not a lot of traditional attractions in Universal City itself, there are endless attractions that are only a short drive away. There are plenty of golf courses in this region. A great day out can be had at The Alamo in downtown Austin, learning all about this important part of Texas and American history, when a small group of the Texas army (including Mexicans) fought for Texas independence against the Mexican army. More Texas history can be learned at the IMAX theater, as well as whatever other shows are playing at the time. And if you didn't get enough Texas history yet, try visiting any or all of the San Antonio missions.  And don't forget the Japanese tea gardens, a tranquil oasis with free admission.
