Seabrook, once a quaint fishing village on the shores of Clear Lake and Galveston Bay, has recently merged with neighboring communities such as Kemah and Pasadena to become part of the Clear Lake suburb area Southeast of Houston. It's approximately a 45 minute drive from Houston in non-rush hour traffic, and if you are looking to commute to downtown during rush hour, this may take approximately an hour and a half. It's also about 28 miles North of Galveston, which is 45 minute to an hour drive, depending on traffic. While it does retain some of the feel and charm of its original fishing village status, the area between Houston and Galveston is nearly merged into one big metro sprawl, with some green parks and golf courses dotted here and there along the way. The old, historical part of Seabrook, which retains most of its old world charm, lies East of Bayport Blvd/Route 146. In this area, you will find the post office, church, some quaint little shops, a weekly farmer's market, and the city's parks. If you are renting an apartment, you most likely will not be located in this area, but on the West side of 146, either in one of the rows of apartment complexes on Repsdorph Road, or on the eastern end of Nasa Road. In either case, you will be in the center of the action, and about a 30 minute drive to Johnson Space Center. Your Repsdorph Road choices include Bar Harbor, while your Nasa Road choices include Seatree Apartments, Edgelake, and Harbor Pointe.Things to Do in Seabrook
Just down the road a few miles in Kemah is Kemah Boardwalk, a boardwalk on the bay where you can stroll, eat fresh seafood, ride an amusement park ride that twirls, spins, or swoops, and do a little shopping at some quaint little shops. There are also a number of bars in the area if you want to imbibe and unwind with the locals.
