Novi is about 30 miles or a 40 minute drive northeast of Ann Arbor, and about 30 miles or a 45 minute to an hour and a half drive drive northwest of Detroit, depending on traffic. It's near the major transportation routes of highway 96, 695, and 275.

It has a population of about 52,000, and it's upper middle class in the economic strata, with an average household income of about $72,000, and an average family income of about $91,000. It's a mostly white area (87%), but also has a fair number of Asians (9%).

Novi's school districts, which are Novi Community Schools, Northville Public Schools,  South Lyon Community Schools, and  Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, have a good reputation.

Things to Do in Novi

The Motorsports Hall of Fame in American opened in Novi in 1989. It features all things having to do with motorsport, including information about people, the vehicles used, and other memorabilia. The Novi Expo Center also has an automovive museum.

The Twelve Oaks Mall and a huge shopping district at the intersection of Novi Road and I-696 make Novi a popular shopping destination for both residents and visitors alike. The town center also has a number of large, chain shops.

Michigan State University runs Tollgate Farm, near the intersection of Twelve Mile and Meadowbrook Roads, as an agricultural extension which is also open to the public. Novi also has one of the largest city parks in the southeast Michigan area. It's near Walled Lake and Twelve Mile Road, west of Novi Road, and it's called Lakeshore Park. It has a number of environmentally protected areas.
