Rolling Meadows Schools
Most of Rolling Meadows schools fall into the Community Consolidated School District 15, which is headquartered in Palatine. Community Consolidated is not a bad school district to have your kids in; in 2003, it was one of seven organizations nationwide to win the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award for performance excellence. It was the only educational institution of any kind to win the award.
In October 2006, District 15 teacher Pat Juza received the Award of Merit from the Illinois State Board of Education for her work with her kindergarten classes. In addition, the districts Structured for Independence team, a group that guides autistic students, received the Board's Recognition Award.
Even the bus drivers in Community Consolidated are award-winners. In July 2006, Jesse Alexander, one of District 15's drivers, was ninth in the National School Transportation Association's "Roadeo" competition in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. The competition consisted of a written component, a barrel slalom and railroad crossing, rider boarding and tire clearance performance tests.
Rolling Meadows Weather
Rolling Meadows weather can be a bit of a... rollercoaster. Summers are mild, with lows usually in the 50s and 60s and highs topping at 84°F in an average July. Winters are typical of the area, though, with highs hovering in the low-to-mid 30s and average lows hitting 14°F in January, the most frigid month. Rainfall is unexceptional, averaging between 1.63 inches and 4.62 inches per month.
