Cited by CNN as one of the best places to live in the U.S., Roswell, Georgia is a city located in northern Fulton County. With a population of 79,334, Roswell spans some 38 square miles and is well-regarded for its low crime statistics. In 2006, City Crime Rankings, a compilation of statistics, listed Roswell, Georgia as the 18th Safest City in the country.

Roswell has its origins with an 1830 visit to north Georgia made by Roswell King, a businessman and former justice of the peace. King noted that the site, by the banks of Vickery Creek, was ideal for the construction of a cotton mill. A few years later, King came back to build the largest mill in north Georgia. The mill employed 400 people by the 1860s, and the community incorporated in 1854.

Roswellians are proud of many historic and interesting sites in their city, including the Bulloch Hall, Barrington Hall, Primrose Cottage and the Archibald Smith Plantation Home, a public museum that was entered in the National Registry of Historical Places in 2006.

Roswell attractions also include a number of festivals. Chief among them are Roswell Roots, a black history festival; the Roswell Magnolia Storytelling Festival in June; the summertime Riverside Sounds Concert Series; the Keep Roswell Beautiful Duck Race; and the Roswell Memorial Day Ceremony, which is the biggest celebration of Memorial Day in Georgia.
