Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is often regarded as the home of grunge music. Coffee companies, such as Starbucks, Seattle's Best Coffee, and Tully's, got their start here.

Finding a Job in Seattle

Seattle is ripe with job opportunities for apartment renters. Five companies on the 2006 Fortune 500 list of the United States' largest companies, are headquartered in Seattle including Washington Mutual, Amazon.com, Nordstrom, Starbucks and Safeco Corporation.

Other large companies are a short commute away to nearby cities and suburbs. Costco Wholesale Corp. is based in Issaquah. Microsoft, Nintendo and McCaw Cellular are all located in Redmond. Weyerhaeuser, is based in Federal Way. Bellevue PACCAR T-Mobile USA.

Boeing's largest division is headquartered in Renton, with large aircraft manufacturing plants in Everett and Renton. These companies, and the push for the biotechnology industry, make Seattle an advantageous city in which to find a job.

Colleges and Universities in Seattle, Washington

The University of Washington is the largest school in the Pacific Northwest, with over 40,000 students. It is also ranked among the top research universities in the United States. Most prominent of the city's other universities are Seattle University, and Seattle Pacific University. Other schools, such as City University, Antioch University Seattle, Cornish College of the Arts and North Seattle, Seattle Central, and South Seattle Community Colleges round out the extensive educational opportunities available to residents of Seattle.
