Cedar Park, Texas
Cedar Park is a Northwest suburb of Austin, Texas. The drive to Austin will take
you straight down route 183, also known as Research Boulevard, and the
approximately 20 mile commute will take about an hour during rush times. Along
with its suburb neighbor to the East, Round Rock, Cedar Park is getting
increasingly dense due to the rapid expansion of Austin's city limits. The
current population of Cedar Park is around 43,000 and is growing fast. Cedar
Creek's mayor and city council are very concerned about the rapid expansion of
this once small town, and they are trying to manage its expansion so that Cedar
Park retains some charm and identity. Public transportation is not bad between
Cedar Park and Austin, and there is a new Capital MetroRail red line that is
scheduled to go from Leander to the North into downtown Austin, with a stop near
Lakeline Mall, but you will still most likely need to drive or ride a bus to get
to the rail stop.

throughout the area. Cedar Park also has many of the usual suburban amenities,
including a good sized mall (Lakeline), a SuperCenter Wal-Mart, Home Depot,

the Hill Country Flyer. It's a 100 year old vintage steam train that runs
through small Texas towns in the hill country. It's a relaxing ride.
